Is courtesy toward funeral processions a thing of the past?

The fact that funeral processions get the right of way used to be universal. Those in the funeral profession have noticed drivers have been less courteous to funeral processions in recent years. One of their main concerns is safety. They wonder why police are not assisting more processions.
